Hello brides,

Any of you decide to do bilingual wedding invites? If so, are there any companies you recommend? My family is Vietnamese, so I'm thinking of including something on there for them but wanted to know of trusted sites.

Thanks.

Have you tried costco or vista? I would call the customer service and ask too

Mine were bilingual and DIY. I did a 2-panel pocketfold with English one one side and Chinese on the other. I did the text layout in Adobe Illustrator and a family member typed the Chinese text with a Chinese version of Word.

You can totally do it DIY if you can find some way to type the Vietnamese characters. Most of the web safe fonts like Times New Roman can support Vietnamese text.

abattyref--your invitations are BEAUTIFUL. thanks for the suggestions. i need to start looking for inexpensive ways to create something with Vietnamese. i'm not familiar with the adobe illustrator, and my printer is very low-end. did you end up saving a significant amount with DIY?

Nga, I agree with abattyref, you can totally DIY these yourself.  Since the Vietnamese use the western alphabet, this should be relatively simple.  My sister did bilingual invites for hers.  I'll ask her what font she used for the accents for you.

Also, for the printer, you can get a nice laser for pretty cheap.  I got mine for around $100 after a black Friday deal and it was excellent quality!

This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Color-Laser-Printer-CLP-315/dp/B001A1PQTS

Thanks Liz! I was thinking I should probably invest in a better printer if I was going to DIY. Mine is an old Lexmark that was given to me when I started graduate school. haha!! All those papers I've printed on there ruined it :)

I'd appreciate any input you or your sister have on this--I've decided to do bilingual ones but not sure how to go about it quite yet.

Ok, so I asked my sister and she can't remember what font she used (it has been 8 years).  But, I did a quick Google search, and here's a link I found to fonts that support the Vietnamese characters...

Thanks! I added a nice printer on my Christmas "wish list," so this may all come together pretty nicely once I start deciding on the details of it all.

If you are DIY printing in Vietnamese, make sure you download the free fonts from Viet Unicode at the top under Publishing, Display, or Script. Only these Unicode fonts have the proper typographic ligatures.  Do not use the "Symbols" in Word.

I saved quite a bit DIYing our invitations. For about 100 invitations we spent about $160, including postage. Bought our cardstock in bulk and used lots of paper cutters and scrapbooking tools that my mom already had. I also used my work printer instead of going to Kinkos or hiring a pro. Postage was also less expensive when I got married 3 years ago.

While we saved a lot of money on these, they took a LONG time to make. :-) Now that I have done a few invitations for family members, if DH and I decide to get married again, I will probably buy pre-made pocketfolds. :-)
