Hi ladies. Hope you're all doing well. I'm so happy to hear that Victoria and Kathy also had their LOs...so exciting! I also want to thank you for your well wishes. I read your messages the night I delivered and I really appreciated it!
Thought I'd sneak in really quick while Giuliana is sleeping.
My water broke at 3:30 am on Wednesday. However had paid a visit to L&D Tuesday night because I wasn't feeling her fetal movements. The doctor cleared me and said that everything was ok, but noticed that I was some contractions. I couldn't
feel them so she said I could leave and said jokingly that there have been times when women come in because they don't feel baby move, only to come back the next day in labor. Should've known that was going to happen to me.
I checked in to L&D at 4:30 and was hooked up to the fetal and contraction monitor. At around 5am the doctor check to see how much I was dilated and said that I was 1 cm along. He then put me on a small dosage of pitocin. The contractions
started getting stronger and stronger...I was trying to hold off on getting the Epidural until I had made progress. At 10:30 I was 2.5 cm dilated...at that point I decided to have the Epi. The Epidural was the best decision because all the pain went
away and I was able to relax. I pretty much slept through the rest of the day and waited to until it was time to push. At 3pm the doctor and two nurses came in to rotate me to my left side because they noticed that the baby's HR was dropping every
time there was a contraction. The Dr. said there was nothing to worry, but that there was the possiblity that the baby was not responding well to the contractions and that there would be a chance of a c-section, but would wait on it until it was
necessary. When she checked my cervix, she said that I was fully dilated and said that it was time to deliver the baby. The one thing about the Epi was that it completed numbed my legs...they felt like Sequoia logs. I pushed for an hour until she
was finally out.
Seeing her and having her placed on my chest for the first time was the most amazing feeling!! Looking back, I feel like I had a pretty easy delivery. I was in labor for a total of 13 hours which includes 1 hour of active labor. The only
concerns were the dips in her HR every time there was contraction, but fortunately everything turned out fine.
Here is a picture of my little angel Giuliana Michelle. I will stop by again and post more pics when I get a chance.
