I hope it is ok to post here. I had a transvaginal ultrasound done last week at 7 weeks. I measured at 5 and half weeks and there was no baby or heartbeat. The ultrasound I had done was less than 5 minutes and I was left hanging and crying in the waiting room for an hour. I decided to get this week's ultrasound with the OB I had seen previously and after a through ultrasound, I measure 6 and half weeks but still no baby or heart beat. My appointment with my OB isnt until tomorrow but I just dont even know what to do right now. I had a missed miscarriage in October and had a d&c after I could clearly see the baby and no heartbeat but this time seems so different. I have bad morning sickness and what have you. Reading on the internet it seems like sometimes it takes a long time to see a baby and a heartbeat (not common but it happens). When do you throw in the towel? The tech mentioned this may be a blighted ovum and I also was wondering what anyone's experience with one might be. TIA.

I've had 2 blighted ovums unfortunately. Each time I measured 2+ weeks behind where I should have been. It's pretty clear when the sac is empty, verses something there with no heartbeat. You can try to wait a few weeks, but your dr will not want you to go too long. Both times, after the ultrasound they have me see the dr immediately.

As far as symptoms, yes, I had them...nausea, sore breasts, etc....this is also called a "missed miscarriage," your body thinks you are pregnant but no baby actually forms, only the sac.

I don't have any experience with blighted ovum or missed miscarriage but I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I know how hard this has been for you. (((Hugs)))
