What are you doing (did you do)?

My girls have been asking me if I had any preferences for a theme.

I haven't had mine yet, but some ideas are swirling around about doing a lingerie or honeymoon-inspired type theme, because in all honesty I'd want to strangle myself if I kept opening cake pan after cake pan, ha ha ha!

I'm with you Kohler! We're not registering so I've been thinking about a lingerie party too. I'm leaning toward a luncheon style with light finger foods, and mimosas :)

I'm not totally sure what my girls are doing since they want to keep it a secret but I've gotten hints that it will be an evening shower and it will have a "wine" theme since I love wine! :) Not sure what that entails but I'm excited to find out!

- Many do "themes" related to the honeymoon or something you need. (ex: I am horrible in the kitchen- maybe mine should be geared towards that haha) Or if your going to Hawaii for your HM then that will be your decoration theme or food theme, etc...

- I think the lingerie one sounds fun! Or the stripper pole fitness ones, b/c they normally also have a banquet rooms to be with the girls. (more like a bachelorette party- but fun none the less!) The one by my house says they have both types of parties there.

My question is: do any of you LA/OC brides know of a restaurant that I could have mine at- maybe with a banquet room, etc? We have girls coming from all over and that seems easiest- any recommendations???

Thanks!

How many people do you think there will be? I'm in
OC...Il Fornaio in Irvine actually has two great banquet rooms of different sizes. We hosted a larger b-day party (about 50 people) for my friend in one and I saw a shower being thrown in another smaller one while I was there once. Also, Ristorante Mama Gina in Newport has a great screened in patio overlooking the water. I threw a bridal shower for my cousin there a few years ago. It holds maybe 20-25. It also has a smaller wine cellar room but it only holds maybe 10-12 people. HTH!

We did a 'Bed & Breakfast' theme for my sister--anything for the bedroom or for the breakfast nook....allowed for a variety of gifts (from tame to raunchy) ;)

We did an around the house shower, with people buying for different rooms. Many combined the rooms and put "bedroom" things inside kitchen canisters. My gift to the bride was pink themed: pink lingerie, rolling pin, ice cream scoop, organizing basket (which it was stuffed in), and the automatic shower cleaner (not pink, but really cool!). I think it gives a chance for people to give what they feel comfortable giving. And by putting your sizes on the invitiation, people know that you are interested in receiving lingerie.

Also -- PSA to lingerie shoppers. I've always bought those gifts at Marshall's/Ross/TJ Maxx. About three "outfits" for $25! And they always get commented on more than the Victoria Secret ones.

As for party themes/decor, I would check out hostesswiththemostess.com for ideas. We did a pink and orange citrus theme.

What great ideas you all have! Not that I ever doubted you :) "Bed & Breakfast'...I love that. I love to spoil my FI with breakfast in bed every weekend. It has become our ritual. How cute are these for a lingerie theme? They're little "favor" bags. I found them at papermart.com under 'fabric bags.'

My BMs are planning my shower and keeping it a surprise, but did let me know the other day that it is a "spa" theme.... don't know what that means.

I went to another shower that they asked the guests to write one of our favorite recipes on a 3x5 card (provided with the invite) and bring to the shower for the newlyweds to help get a start on a new recipe box. It was alot of fun watching the bride go through the recipes and she loved it!
