It is so true that when one door closes another opens.

A friend of mine who lives very very far away is flying in for my wedding to be a part of the day in place of my friend who freaked out.

I am crying with tears of happiness and pure joy right now.

I also extended an e-mail to my former BM and tried to patch up the friendship to let her know that it wasn't my intent to hurt her, but I respect her decision to step away, her absence will be felt, etc.

Am glad it worked out well !   It's during times like this that you find out who your real friends are.

Cheers!

Wow, sorry to hear your having bad luck w/her. I get the impression she doesn't want to be a BM either based on your summary. It's unfortunate seeing that you were her MOH, that sucks because that sort of symbolizes that you guys are close. If I were you I would have a talk w/her soon. And she can't be that broke if she just got a tattoo. Talk to her.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having BM issues.  I just don't understand the point of it all.

I'm so happy to know you have a friend that is willing to step up and be the kind of friend you need right now.

I'm glad to read that your BM situation got sorted and that's really wonderful for your other friend to fill in.  I love it when things work out okay in the end.  It sounds as though your friend that freaked just didn't want to be involved in the wedding at all considering there seemed to be a lot of excuses on her part as to why she couldn't uphold her BM duties.

It sounds as though she was looking and/or creating reasons for her dismissal as a BM, which is too bad.  Sometimes, just being honest about whether or not you want to be involved in a bridal party or to just attend as a supportive friend can make the all the difference in the world when it comes to friendships.  I think you carried yourself with a lot of grace and understanding through all of this, so hopefully the friendship will remain in tact after the fact.
