Are you planning on buying anything for your wedding instead of renting?  Linens, candle holders, china, chargers, decor items, etc?  Are you planning to resell them afterward to recoup some of the cost?

We're buying or building everything we can.  Linens, candle holders, containers, stands.

We're only renting china, silverware, glassware, and a dance floor (unless we can make one!).

Everything else will be purchased and resold after the wedding.  =)

So far it's a combination of the two. Depends on the overall costs and possible recovery.

Buying linens from what I've seen its cheaper for me that way.

I'm going to try and sell afterwards.

I bought the linens, centerpeice vases, napkins, votives and vases for the floating candles.  I'll probably sell a lot of it.

Because of Italian tradition you always give away the centrepiece  to a"winner" from that tabl (you make a game out of it) so I had to buy my glass vases so they can be given away (boo, lol). The trick was that I couldn't over spend, but the vases I wanted are like $60 a pop. Luckily I spent a few hours searching through Kijiji and I found a bride selling the exact vases I wanted!! It turns out that one bride had bought them for her wedding but the wedding was cancelled or something, in turn, the wedding planner sold those vases to another one of her brides. The second bride decided that she didn't like the style and thought they could be blown over by the wind at her out door wedding reception, so I ended up snagging all 30 vases from her for $14 when the original price was $60 per vase. Awesomeness. In any case I have 24" tall pilsner vases and plan to rock them!

I was thinking of renting my linens, but I got the quote from the company I want to go with and the price is ludicrous (I had a hard time not spelling it the rapper way for some reason!).

The rest I am buying because I'm DIY-ing pretty much everything. I'm also probably just going to force the centrepieces on people because what the heck am I going to do with them! LOL.
