Can anyone recommend a bakery that has cakes for under $4/slice, preferably in the peninsula or close to Palo Alto?  I looked at Gerhard Michler bakery & their cakes start at $4.75/slice + $45/hr for time to venue, delivery & set up (they're based in SF).   We're expecting 130 guests.

I've called all the usual bakeries:  Satura Cakes, Prolific Oven, etc... but their cakes start at $6/slice.

I have an appt for cake tasting this Friday at Sugar Bowl Bakery in Hayward since they have cakes for $4/slice but delivery is between $40 - $50.

help!!

The place I'm getting my cake is very reasonable it's in Alameda The name is Boniere Bakery and it is so good. If you need more info let me know.

@PigglyWiggly - hmm, have you considered doing a small display cake and sheet cakes? Sheet cakes will run you $3 to $4 a slice.

tiffany -- I'll check out Boniere, thanks!

Rae -- yup, I've asked for pricing for a small display cake + sheet cake and it's still running pretty high.

hi ladies - I contacted the lady, Enez, at Cakeabakin: http://www.cakeabakin.com/index.html

She's on the peninsula so too far for my Napa wedding, but I think she's around $3/slice (or less if it's a simple cake).

If you are open to Asian/Chinese bakeries they are very reasonable, around $2 or $3 if I'm not mistaken.

Another one that is very reasonably priced is Bev Tanaka. She's based in Livermore so I think she only delivers to venues around the area (not sure where your wedding is)...but worth a try.

I've had Enez / Cakeabakin at a wedding once and it was really good. I believe that Bride went with a really simple cake and it was pretty. Good luck!

Marcela - yeah I'm going to contact some asian bakeries too; Sheng Kee is on my list! A friend of mine who speaks chinese said he'll come with me when I decide to visit them so at least I won't have a difficult time telling them what I"m looking for.

cestfemme -- I emailed Cakeabakin just now...

thanks for the tips, ladies!! y'all rock!

We used Eurodelights in San Jose.  It cost $580 for a 4 tier cake that was for 200 people (and we had leftovers)!

pandp2009 & marcela - OMG, thank you so much!!! I actually love the Asian cakes since they're so moist & light!

I just spoke to Quinn at Euro Delights and she quoted me $300 for 100 people serving or $375 for 150 people serving -- all 3 tier cakes!  I also took a look at their website and they have some beautiful designs for their buttercream cakes (which I want; I'm not crazy over the taste of fondant). Delivery & set-up to Palo Alto is $65

We have an appt on March 28th for cake tasting...woohoo!!!

pandp - did their cake taste good?  I took a look at your bio and LOVE the cake design!
