haha they may think it's small, but a lot of guests don't eat cake, you'll have leftovers. Plus, I wouldn't worry too much because I think a lot of people have done the same thing with their own wedding.
Have you ever considered
having your baker create a "fake tier" + have sheet cakes in the back. they can decorate non edible material with Icing and/or Fondant & you can't tell at all that its fake. Then your sheet cake will be in the back waiting to be sliced.

as you have at least One Edible tier for the "cake-cutting" that may be a good option for you
...I'm having a fake tier added to my cake just to make it look more dramatic because I Also only have 100-120 guests.
