I want to get a giant box of nerds, but the best I can find is this: http://www.candywarehouse.com/nerds.html

I was hoping to get a box that's about 1 foot by 1 foot. One thing I'm considering is taking the outer box that holds all the small nerd boxes and filling that with nerds.

I perfer a candy buffet, too. I never see anyone finish their slice of cake, or at least very few do. I like the idea of people just getting what they want.

Joe, you could also fill giant vases with nerds. I think that would look really pretty.

From the guest's point of view I would much prefer signature drink over candy buffet. Drinks are a lot more fun. ;)

Hey girls just thought I'd let you know that they actually have company's out there that will come and set up the candy buffet for you and bring all the candy/jars/scoops, and I think they saty there and man it for you. I saw it at a Bridal expo I just went to and the lady was super nice,  I already have my favors, but I thought it could help some of you out. I think it is like $ 4 or $5 dollars a person. were's the link http://www.mycandybuffet.com/

In some other countries they do this in leiu of a cake.  In Ecuador they do this for sure it is called a dulces table (I had a friend marry an Ecuadorian and we went to her wedding in Guayaquil) The table was amazing!  More elegant that any cake I have ever seen it was the size of a raquet ball court with tons of yummie handmade candies and truffles.

Here are some good blogs on candy buffets and ideas:

Also this is part of certain cultures really neat to read all about it.  I like this idea as a supplement to your cake. Make the reception more unique and fun.  Sugar highs for the kids before dancing the night away....
