My FI have talked about having a caricature artist during our cocktail hour OR for a few hours of the reception. We're really going for a fun party atmoshpere, so we think its a great form or entertainment and would act as our favors. I found a really great artist and his quote is $500 for the 1st three hours and $120 per hour after that.

Has anyone had or been to a wedding with a caricature artist? What are your thoughts and is this quote typical? Also, please feel free to reccomend any artists in Northbay area of CA.

What a cool idea. I always feel like I wasting money on favors since no one really keeps them anyways. If they had a caricature done of themselves, the guests would keep them and everytime they see them it will remind them of your wedding. I say go for it!!!!!

I think that's a great idea! I would go for the $500 for the first three hours, I don't think you need anymore after that.

That would be cool. How many people are going to be at the wedding? Hopefully the artist can handle them all within the time frame?

Thanks! My FI and I have really loved the idea of the PhotoBooths, but the cost has been keeping us from committing ($1000). I've heard really great things about Caricature artists at events including weddings. At half the price, I think it could be just as fun.

Lzanassi: Doug Shannon is exactly the person I'm intersted in and he's the one that gave me the quote. I'm glad to hear you liked him. His art is really amazing...funny yet classic. Not just crazy renditions. How many guests were at your wedding and how long did you have Doug there? Thanks for the help.

Kristen: We're inviting approx. 150 so we're expecting anywhere between 130-150 guests. I have the same concerns with the time frame although the artist is known to be quick.
