Since our wedding is small (50) having our ceremony at our church seems overwhelming.I 'm thinking of having everything at the hotel where we can set up just 50 chairs so it won't look so bare, also it will look more intimate. Need advice.

I think it's a great idea!

If that's what you really want to do..then go for it! It'll turn out nice no matter what!! Being overwhelmed comes along with planning! I got overwhelmed plenty of times!

I agree with the other ladies! I think it would be gorgeous in your church!!!  I will search for a few pics for you.  : )

With just 50 people dont you think it would look bare? Wouldn't the photos look bad because it would look like no one showed up?

I don't think it would look bare! If you truly want to have it in your church, you should. Make sure your guest sit in the first few rows and that will look full. Your photog could probably get creative with the pictures and where he stands while taking them.

I think that 50 is a pretty big number. I am have at most 30 guests. I think that you just have to have a cut off point for sitting in the church and discuss with the photographer that you would like as much as possible for photos to be within a certain range. But it is up to you and what you feel most comfortable with.

If you want it in your church then go for it! You just have to be a little more creative. It will all be worth it though if that is what will make you day a little more special!

It all depends on what you want. My parents had a small church ceremony, and they had the people seated in the front pews. The church allowed them to dim the lights, and then they had candles everywhere. It looked gorgeous in the photos, even though it was a small church with only a few guests.

Ditto about having your guests sit in the front pews.  Your photog should definitely be able to get pictures that don't show the entire space.  If you want to have it in your church (which I totally love by the way), it is definitely doable.  I especially love the candle idea.  I am in love with candles.  Do you have a picture of the space?  Maybe we could all help out with getting some ideas together for decorating it.  : )

I totally agree with missjess and sleandre had excellent idea about telling your photographer about the range in which to shoot your shots. I was going to suggest the same idea. Since me and you are from the same neck of the woods, where is your home church? Also, do you really want to get married in the church? If that is where your heart is, then I say go with the church ceremony. For me, I always dreamed of doing an outside ceremony. Made me feel like I was surrounded by God, the angels and heaven! You do what makes your heart smile and it will all work out!
