First of all thanks for all this support, I don't know what I would do without PW!!
So when I first got engaged I was sure I wanted my hair down with curls and a bit of it pinned back. I have been growing out my usually chin length hair and now it is a couple of inches past my shoulders and I love it!! So anyways, at first I thought it would be down and romantic with this pearl drop earrings that I bought that have kindof a vintage feel to them.
A couple months ago I changed my mind I fell in love with the look of lariat necklaces (hang down your back). I got this local artist to make a necklace with rose coloured gems and gold beads (my dress has a subtle gold thread throughout it) plus earrings and a couple flower hairpins. I spent about $50 on that jewellery and about the same on the pearl earrings. Because I decided to go with the lariat necklace I needed to have my hair up. When I've tried doing simple up-dos (It will be done professionally) and playing around with peach makeup and putting on the gold jewellery and take pics I haven't been too impressed with the result. I like all the pieces but when I put them all together it's really not that great of a look. Some other aspects is that the gold clashes with my white gold rings.
FYI my wedding colours are a dove grey- a bit on the dark side and a light peach. My gown is diamond white, MOH and BM are in grey and flowergirls (3) and flowers are peach. Our wedding ceremony is in a beachside park followed by an intimate reception at a local restaurant.
Anyways, here I am 2 weeks to go and now I think I want to go with the first look of the dangley pearl earrings and hair down. If I go with this look I would be subtle grey eyes (which is very flattering on my fair skin and blue eyes) with false lashes and hair down and curled. Since I have been wearing my hair down a lot lately I notice that I feel a lot sexier and prettier with it down. I have a rather wide forehead and face so I think when I look at pics of myself I prefer the hair down as it really softens my look.
One more thing...
In my bio I have a pic of my dress that I love. I bought it with my mom and immediatly had the idea to ruch (sp?) the top which is currently straight across and make it a ruched sweetheart, which I love the look of. My mom, although typically not the overbearing type, was addament against this idea so I kind of just dropped it. Since then I bought this other dress at the thift store (it was designer) and it had a weird baggy neckline so using my seamstress skills I did a single stitch in the front to make it a sweetheart. I recently wore it for my grad ceremony and got dozens of complements on it... This makes me think I should try the same on my gown. It would be completely reversbile if I were to try it and not like it. Also it would not damage the dress at all (it is a very sturdy lace fabric). Anyways I guess I will bring it up with my mom and tell her nicely that I need to be able to do my own thing.. I think it may help that kindof "stick out" look that the straight across look has from the side and also show off :) a touch of cleavage which is one part of my body I really like.
So sorry this is so long, I'm having one of those days.
Ideas?
Do you like the sound of hair down, and pearls?
Do you guys like the sound of my second plan with updo and gold jewellery?
What about the neckline issue? I have a pic of the dress in my bio
Thanks so much and again sorry for rant!!
