City Hall Wedding

Hello ladies,
So FI and I may have to get married a few mos before our actual wedding for military bureaucratic reasons. We were just going to go to city hall for paperwork but then we thought why not make this fun... My photography package came with a 1 hr engagement session so instead of an e-session we thought that they could come with us to city hall! I'm still trying to decide if we should do this if we have to get married before our wedding. I think if we do I would wear a beige or white or cream skirt suit or tea length dress and he would just wear civilian clothes like one of his three piece suits or something instead of his uniform... So - Yay or nay?!

I think that is such a lovely idea that is original and unique!

I say, go for it! Especially because I know exactly the situation - FI and I are doing it too, because my work permit expires before the wedding, so we are going to city hall much earlier. It's a great idea to get your photographer to come take pictures at the city hall ceremony. You can also have your makeup and hair trial before :)

But maybe instead of a beige or cream skirt suit, you can wear something that's different and original. Is there something you wanted to wear for the wedding, but couldn't (e.g. some traditional wedding outfit, or color, or accessory?). For example, I may wear a red suit because red is the traditional wedding color in Bulgaria (as it is in many other countries!).

Go for it, Champ! I haven't really talked about it here, but we're getting married at City Hall. Unlike your reason or Smilkova's, we simply decided that the ceremony wasn't a priority for us and that we liked the idea of being married quietly in a public place, with just our parents as witnesses - and then having a fabulous party with our friends afterwards. So that's what we're doing! We're going to be married at City Hall in San Francisco, which is a gorgeous place, and our photographer will be there to record it all! I of course have a photo board of other weddings there:



I thought about wearing a suit, but after seeing a lot of photos of City Hall brides wearing wedding gowns, I thought, "Why the hell not?"=)

Go for it. I think it's great, but then again I am bias since me and my DH did the same thing. Only our "real" wedding is taking place 6 years later..lol

Aching & smilkova - love SF city hall. I saw wedding highlights and it was held at SF city hall. Very pretty. You're pictures will turn out awesome!!!
