FI and I are anticipating a guest list of about 300. We wanted to know your thoughts on this cake idea that's in brainstorm mode:
Have a very small traditional buttercream cake that FI and I would slice and serve the wedding party (mostly for pictures and to officially say it is our wedding cake). Then serve the rest of the guests European tortes instead, like polermo,
tiramisu, chocolate mousse, dobash, sacher tortes, etc. Some of these will have rum and amaretto in them and we are pretty sure our Asian guests will like this taste. These would all be displayed on a long table on top of glass pedestals of varying
heights.
The only downer to this idea is that we have no idea what the guests would want. The only way with such a big guest list is to randomize it. Maybe we can ask the servers to place the slices in the middle of each table instead of in front of
each guest so guests can grab the ones they like best.
Is this tacky?
