Okay, so first I have to share that DH and I just bought a house! Woo-hoo! It has just about everything we were looking for, and we are so excited!

In addition to being jazzed about the great size and features, we're also quite happy that most rooms are painted neutrally and have neutral floors. We have color schemes picked out for three of the four bedrooms, the living room, family room, mudroom/laundry room, and basement, but we're still undecided about the fourth bedroom, kitchen, and dining room.

So... I'm turning to you girls! If you had a dining room with dark wood floors and chair rail, what color(s) would you paint the walls?

How about an extra bedroom? For what it's worth, the master bedroom is probably going to be shades of merlot and espresso, the office bedroom will be shades of blue, and the guest bedroom will be sage green and chocolate. The last bedroom is likely going to be a craft room for me, and I have no idea what I want!

Please inspire me ladies - give me some color schemes I wouldn't think of on my own!

Well, if I could do it all again, I would incorporate burnt orange in one of my rooms!  I think it looks great with grey and white.  

I also like greys and yellows

For your dining room, since you have dark floors, I would go with a light taupe on the walls and your accents could be any bright color - yellow, green, etc.  You can't go wrong with taupe! It is my favorite "neutral" color.
