Cost of the honeymoon

How much are you spending on your honeymoon? How much do you think people *should* spend on their honeymoon?

It depends on how rich you are I guess. =) One of my coworkers told me to skimp on the wedding and the rings, and splurge on a spectacular honeymoon!

Holy Moly... my dream honeymoon is to spend a week in one of the Rondovals at Sandals St. Lucia. If, by some amazing miracle (sush as my FIL's wallet!), this honeymoon actually happened... it would be upwards of $11-12,000!!!!! Maybe I'm cheaper than most... but that seems like an outrageous amount of money!!! But wow.. just the pictures took my breath away... plus I mean, you get what you pay for! It's all inclusive PLUS *ahem* personal butler service!!! HELLO!?!?!

My two week honeymoon to Europe (Rome, Venice, Florence, Nice, Paris, London) cost about $10k. I know that was in the high end but we had a great time and I never thought that we spent too much. That was the most we've ever spent on travel. There are more affordable options such as cruises, which are all inclusive (room, food, entertainment & activities are all included).

Yowsers, $10K sounds like a lot of money! But if you can swing it, sure why not. ;) My budget is much more modest ... a few thousand dollars at most.

Our HM is currently at about $9500 for hotels and flights alone for 4 nights in Moorea and 4 nights in Bora Bora. So we're guessing when it's all said and done, it'll end up being around $12k. This is a trip of a lifetime and we're willing to splurge because it's our honeymoon! But of course that means no real vacations before this. The sacrifice is worth it. I say spend what you're comfortable with. It is your HM after all!

Joe and I are probably going to be on the lookout for travel deals. Maybe a place like Hawaii will be cheaper in September?

We're going to a friend's in Beaver Creek. Its something to look out for, which friend has a vacation home they would be willing to let you use for a week?

i think that you can control your price range as long as you don't go toooo over the top or opt for the best of the best of the best. but if you're like me, and want to do half adventure/half resort, than you should DEFINITELY go to a travel agent, who can help you get the honeymoon of your dreams at the budget you are restricted to. always, always set a budget before you plan, i say. my recently married and returned from honeymoon friend SWEARS by costco travel services. she says that her travel agent (free with costco membership) offered a WAY lower price (i think b/c they take VERY little commission compared to other agencies) and was very attentive to all of the details that she wanted for their honeymoon. its all about the details! okay, so i kind of wandered off into a big tangent, but you get the idea. my cutie and i are going to spend no more than $4,000. i hope this helps! =D

We are going for 17 days of French Polynesia (Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Tikehau). It is around $12K which I guess is on the high side. Our wedding was around $22K which in San Francisco is on the low side - but we didn't miss anything, just focused on the things that were most important to us. For example, while having photos was important, we didn't want to spend the usual $4K+ on them so we found a photographer that was around $1.3K instead and it was still great.

I don't think there is a limit on how much a honeymoon should cost...whatever you can afford and are comfortable spending.
