I have always wanted to go to Hawaii but I know it would be at least $10k so I'm not sure we can do it since we're really trying to save our pennies to put a down payment on a house next year.. Why can't we just win the lottery? hee hee
I have a few friends who have HM in St. Lucia (Sandals) and they just raved about it.. They stayed at the Grande and I think the Middle of the road one.. can't remember the name. But they said they're both beautiful and you can swim and dine at all 3 of the sandals resorts which I thought was great!

Margaret, we are honeymooning in Hawaii, in September! Maybe we'll see you there =) It sounded so traditional to me at first but since neither of us have been there before we decided there would be no better time! We're visiting Oahu, Maui and Kauai. I lucked out and won 4 nights at the Ohana East on Waikiki Beach in Oahu and my FIL is giving us 3 nights at his time share in Maui. We found good fares for roundtrips with island hoppers on Aloha and I we got a great deal on a Kauai hotel (travel industry rates are my best friend). So far with the airfare and Kauai hotel we are just under $1,100.00. I don't think there's a set price point of how much is too much, just whatever each couple is comfortable with. I know $10K is certainly out of our budget. If it wasn't for the free nights in Oahu we probably would be booking a cruise for our honeymoon.

okay, whew, i don't feel as bad for flipping out, since it appears i'm not alone. heehee...i almost had a nervous breakdown when we finally decided on the honeymoon we wanted (2 nights in tahiti, 5 nights in an overwater bungalow in bora bora) due to the cost.

we booked through costco travel based on my sister's recommendation, and they were super helpful! we would recommend booking through costco travel as well.

our 8 day trip ended up costing just under $8k, including travel insurance, etc. we paid for some extra meals too, since i've heard food is very expensive in bora bora.

i'm definitely excited and looking forward to our trip (and i keep telling myself that it's a once in a lifetime thing. =) heehee)

Hawaii is a great place for a Honeymoon. I always book through www.pleasantholidays.com. Sept through Dec is really inexpensive. 6 nights for about $700 per person to Honolulu. I am going to Thailand and Vietnam for my honeymoon. Complete booking cost me $5160.00 for 15 days. Airfare and Resort Stay.

We got such a great deal!! We're going to Cabo in Mexico and are staying at a high end all-inclusive resort (top shelf only!!), we'll be staying in the honeymoon suite, which includes two massages, two facials, champagne, gift basket, fresh fruit upon our arrival, and a romantic private dinner for two on the beach. All of this, plus air fare for 2, and the room for 10 days---about $4200!!! The best part is that we could go there with literally, no money in our pockets, and still be fine since it's all inclusive...Score!!

Any of you having a honeymoon registry? FI and I want to spend ten days to two weeks in Tuscany and we are thinking of setting up a honeymoon registry. Any recommendations? I've looked at www.honeyfund.com, and it looks pretty good, although I am not exactly sure how it works.

we've been saving- well, he has been saving up!- our points on American Express and we've already taken one really cool trip to NYC that way. He is a platinum card member and their travel services are excellent.
I don't know the total cost- he's in charge of the honeymoon- but I do know it is a 5 star hotel and we are going for 10-14 days.

I don't think there are any 'shoulds'. Travel is important to some and not so important to others.

We went to Europe for 3 weeks. Venice, Florence, Rome, Italy and Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini. It cost us about 15K, not including flights, we used our FF Miles.
