I am torn about covering my tattoo.... I don't exactly want to hide it, but I don't want to take away from my dress, etc. Plus, my venue and theme are a little elegant rock n' roll. What are your thoughts? Does anyone know of anything that covers it and works well? I am also afraid of it rubbing off, or being able to see it through makeup, which is just tacky.

Hey,

I'm a professional makeup artist and I often cover tattoos for Brides.  Honestly, I wouldn't unless for some reason it makes you not feel good.

If you decide to, find someone who airbrushes body makeup (if you can).  Ideally, you want alcohol based body makeup as that will not rub off and make a mess.  Regular makeup will, no matter what you do to it.... you'll have to be conscious of there being makeup on your body.  In the end, it is really up to you!

HTH!

I like tattoos, I think they're hot. I've seen brides in their wedding dresses with their tattoos showing and they looked beautiful. The tattoo is just a part of them. I have tattoos on the inside of my arms that won't necessarily show in pictures unless im gettin wild throwing my arms up. LoL. But honestly I don't think tattoos take away from the beauty and elegance of a bride, some people think so. Different strokes i guess. JMO, hope it helps :-)

Thanks ladies! I don't think I am going to cover it. I am just so sick of people commmenting on it. I went to one bridal salon and the woman barely helped me, because of my tattoo that she kept eyeing up before she said," Maybe you should get a dress with sleeves."

Its SO the norm now to show them.  I think its your personal preference whether you want them to show for your wedding pictures.  I think they are pretty cool though, it gives the girls that "edgey" look.

Oh yeah, about coverage for them if you do decide to go that route, Kat Von D just launched her tattoo cover and its supposed to be one of the best out there.  I saw the promotional photoshoot they taped on LA Ink where they used the actual product to cover her whole body for the shoot and it totally worked!  Check that out.
