Cuteboy2me: First RSVP Decline

A guy from Todd's hockey team declined and I felt bad for him.  The guy can't make it for various reasons, but to hear FI say he was disappointed tugged at my heart. 

I know there will be more declines, but I think to hear Todd's reaction to this first decline, I wasn't expecting. 

In all honesty, I think Todd is going to take the declines more personal than I am.  At this point, I don't think it bothers me. I don't know this guy too well, so I'm not as emotional about this particular invite. 

Could it also have to do with the fact that we do need to get our numbers down?  How bad is that?!  I'm actually ashamed of myself!  :(

its funny, drew was the same way! i rejoiced in declines, because we invited 30 people MORE then we could afford. origionally, we were at 144, and with last saturday as our deadline, we are at a firm 119. i am soo happy! but with every decline, drew asked 100 questions, "why cant they come?" "well what did they say?" "dont you think thats messed up?" etc. i thought it was cute though, because hes usually the one to calm my nerves, and i could finally return the favor!

Awh! I didn't like seeing the declined RSVP's. If it was someone important to me then I would be upset but alot of people who declined where just invited because they were just friends of friends. (So it wasn't a big deal) And no worries, I was kindof hoping the non-important people would decline so that hte number would go down.

Alot of the people said they were coming and didn't even show. So it all worked out in the end perfectly. But it did suck to have to pay for those people who said that were coming and ended up not.

I remember our first decline.  Cale was upset too because he was so sure this couple was coming.  He was enraged as a matter of fact. Only one decline upset me and that's because she begged for over a year and then declined. I agree with Julie. A lot of people said they were coming, rsvp'd as a matter of fact and didn't show up. Didn't bother me one bit, it all worked itself out! 

Most of the people coming are his family so I'm sure mine will get upset as well but we are inviting 20 more than we want to come expecting many declines since some live overseas. It's cute how they worry more than us most times. 

Lol, Tammy that is so true and funny! I hadn't thought about it this way, but I too was a little excited when I found out a few people I thought were coming actually aren't anymore b/c we are right at 148 and will have to pay a security fee if over 150 come. haha. FI was asking all these questions about why they could't come!!

I'm thinking we will be over 150 though because we still have to hear back from some! I'll call them tonight!

We are the same way. A little bummed when people say no, and Jesse kinda gets upset if he finds out why and doesn't think it's a good reason, lol, but then I remind him that the fewer people that are there the more money we'll have for our honeymoon :)

Receiving RSVP's is so emotional! Sometimes we were really upset by declines but I have to admit there were some people that declined and we weren't THAT upset because we had to get our numbers down too. What irked me the most were the people that all but begged for an invite and then DECLINED. ARGH. 

I hope you two get acceptances from everyone else you really want there! :)

After going through a wedn, I say be thankful, these are the best types of guest, the guest that tell you in advance they are not coming (4 whatever reason), rather than having a guest accept and not show up. Tell FI, this is a good thing, you'll be more upset if they confirmed and didn't show up and you've already paid for the seat. This was upsetting to me. FI wasn't upset nor I about the declines.
