Cuteboy2me: Truffle Recipe Flop

I am wanting to use truffles as my escort card holders.  I want to make them from scratch, stick a stick in them with the name and table number label attached.

Tonight, I decided to give the truffle recipe I had a try.  Well, I would have been better served to take the $15.00 in baking supplies and flush it down the toilet.   The flavour of the truffle mix is amazing, but they did not set at all.  I am currently left with a good sized bowl of truffle mix goop sitting in my fridge.  Oh well, I tried. It didn't work.

I think what I might do is go to Costco or a chocolate specialty shop and buy the truffles I want or maybe the Bailey's chocolate balls from Costco and use them.  I tried the homemade avenue and it didn't work out.  I don't have to make a decision overnight, but that I tried and the recipe failed, I don't want to go out and start over with ingredients to be $30 invested and then still have to buy bulk to get the look I want.

The trials and tribulations of a DIY bride!  :)

ahhh bummer! What was the recipe you used? Maybe we can try to salvage it/come up with some ways to improve?

What was in your recipe?  You probably just need to add more chocolate and you can save them.

I'm going to leave them in the fridge overnight. FI is going to come home from work and wonder what mess I was creating.  I love doing stuff like to him. :)

The recipe was this one.  I had the same result that some of the reviewers experienced.

Maybe try a different recipe. I dont easily give up. Id probably look at another recipe and see wats different and tweak it using wats in ur bowl in the fridge.

The fridge remains are not firming up!  The flavour is fabulous, but the consistency is just not right!

I can believe it wouldn't firm up--there's nothing in that recipe that would make it solid! I'd definitely try some other options--the oreo truffles are very delicious, and I'm sure there are other recipes out there with some sort of thickening agent that would turn out better!

I may try the oreo truffle recipe.

When I was making the recipe, I was wondering what would be the 'thickening/hardening' factor.  Obviously, nothing!  :)

Thanks, ladies.

With the Holidays coming up if you want to not make the oreo truffles not so chocolatey rich, make them with the mint oreos. I make both versions during the holidays and always get requests for more. Just don't get the double stuff oreos. They don't hold together as well when you dip them in the melted chocolate.
