Destination Wedding

My fiance and I are getting married in Oahu, Hawaii August 7th, 2013. Please give us some advice....What is the most important thing we should know or need for our destination wedding?

How awesome! I want to go to Hawaii! I'm going to BUMP this for you because Im not sure about a desination wedding besides all the basic stuff!

It is beautiful. I was a stained glass artist in Hawaii in 2001. However, if you do not like pungent smells it can be a little overbearing at times. I did not do the touristy stuff. It has never been my thing. I went to the North side and to Huanama Bay as well as to the Plataue WOW my memory is coming back.

You will need to rely on your vendors a lot with a DW.  Stay in contact closely with them, do you get a wedding planner through the venue or company you have chosen?  If so, that will help a lot.  Do lots of research on the internet before you go.  Figure out what you want to take with you, besides your attire, and think about transporting "the dress".  Does your "package" include flowers, cake, etc.?  Photos?  Maybe music that is meaningful to you?  Also, you may want to ask about the ceremony itself - vows, and what will be said, if you are allowed any input.  

Congrats - the islands are lovely, I am sure it will be a beautiful and meaniful wedding!
