I want to hear all about your rescue pet!  We rescued 2 kitties from the shelter.  I love them so much!

Jax is a crossed-eyed Siamese and Juna is a Tonkanese.

This is Daphne. She's part Pomeranian part Schipperke. I rescued her from a shelter outside of Chicago. Apparently she comes from a puppy farm where pet stores purchase from. I guess the buyers for the pet stores didn't want her and her sister, so they got left behind. And that's how she found me. :) Her sister was adopted by another family. (Yes, her hair is cut into a mohawk down her back - so cute!)

This is Winnie. Obviously she's a cat, but I have no idea what kind. She's the most demanding, whiney cat in the whole world, but I love her. She was found as a kitten stuck in a tree and refused to get down. Nobody claimed her so she went to a shelter where at first I was just fostering her, but then I couldn't bear to think of her any where but with me, so I adopted her.

And this is my baby, Chub Frank. He's a Chihuahua and although I purchased him through a pet store, I consider him a rescue. He was 19 weeks old when I saw him at the store and his price had been slashed insanely. The lady at the pet store literally said that they just wanted to get rid of him. He was really shy, timid, and shakey when I took him out to play with him so I guess that might be why nobody was interested, but once I took him home, his personality has really come out. He has to be the most well-behaved dog I've ever known and everybody says the same about him.

All 3 of my cats (yes 3, omg) were rescued.

The first, Teddy, was rescued from the Humane Society when I was on a quest to find a black cat about 12 years ago. He ended up being very sickly and were told we could take him back to get a healthier cat but we couldn't do that to him. We got him all fixed up and he's been with us ever since.

Second, Tatsumi, was found by train tracks when she was just a tiny kitten by a family friend and one of my now sister-in-laws back in 2002. They asked my mom if we wanted her (I knew nothing about this at the time) she said yes, and when I came home from school that day (in a HORRIBLE mood) I was happy to find this little ball of fluff just sitting on my bed. She's a terror now but I still love her.

And last the baby, Mochi (who is officially OUR cat together). We found her at a park known to have wild bobcats and coyotes running around freely. She was just the cutest little thing who followed me everywhere and I couldn't just leave her there. So we took her home and I still love her to death! She just turned about 2 this month. Before DH and I were married, whenever he came over one of the first things he always did was go see her.

But both of my kitties I rescued!

First is Marley.  He was born in my shed.  I took his mama and got her spayed, and the other 3 kities I had to take to the shelter.  The kittens were about 5 weeks when I found them.  I spent many many many hours in that shed gaining their trust and feeding them.  I brought Marley inside when he was about 8-9 weeks.  He was a tiny little thing and very boney.  When I took him to the vet he weighed 2.2lbs!   This is my heart Marley:

And this is Miles.  I found him outside my house 2.5 months ago, scared and hungry.  He was bout 8 weeks or so when I took him in. He weighed 3.2lbs.  One month later the dude weighs 6lbs!!!  He is the most crazy, rowdy kitten EVER!!!  He is a terror, but we love him so much!!!

Kind of :)

Sabrina kept hanging around in my mom's yard for weeks and weeks. We'd give her food and she'd come and go, but this was November and it was getting really cold and she was spending a LOT of time near our house. We even found her in the garage a few times and I felt bad so we posted flyers and I posted on Craigslist and at all the local vets and got her checked for microchipping. No one came forward to claim her, so we kept her. I'm pretty sure she was a stray because we've seen two other cats that resemble her a lot hanging out in the neighborhood and they are definitely strays. Here she is warming herself on the bathroom vent LoL

KiKi was our roommate's cat, he picked her up as a stray as well. When we all parted ways from our apartment, he decided he didn't want her anymore and was going to get her put down. WHAT?!?! At that point, we'd had the cats TOGETHER for almost two years and I was having none of that, so I kept her. I didn't even ask DH if he was cool with that, I was just so upset with our roommate. She is very timid and I think before he had her she was abused because she gets scared if you pick up a broom or anything that looks like a stick. I once had a rolled up magazine and she FREAKED out. She always tenses up if someone touches her or if someone new comes around. It has taken almost four years but she's finally completely comfortable with us, so that's good. She's really just a princess.

I guess you might call it "rescuing"... a coworker's mother lives out in the country in Oklahoma and she feeds this stray outdoor cat that comes around, and this cat has had several litters of kittens on her property.  They take the kittens from her when they are weaned and they find them good homes.  We got Chuy at the end of May from her first litter.  And then we got Pablo in September from another litter.  My coworker's mom hasn't fixed the mother because it isn't her cat.  Apparently the shelters out in farm country are completely full or are kill shelters, so that isn't an option.  So she just finds the kittens homes so they don't suffer the same fate as the mama.  Our "free" kittens came to us with ear mites, worms, and respiratory problems, but they are very loved and healthy now.

I guess you might photo 2587461-1

Yes!  We rescued Luna from the shelter.  We love her so much!  She was found by Animal Control roming the streets, underweight, and covered in fleas.  Our local shelter took her in, and we adopted her several months later.  She is the best doggie every and just loves to cuddle!

All of my kitties were rescues!  Two from the park I work at, some from the local shelter, and well the rest were drop offs at my house!  Just because I live in the country doesn't mean it is a good place to drop off your kitty!!

And I have one that my brother had when he moved out of his house and got married.  The sis in law's dad is a ((*&&^^%&& and wouldn't let him take him with him.  I took him instead.
