Aug 17, is our wedding day and we have a 2 daughters. A 4-year-old and a 4-month-old (Pics of them are on my profile). Our 4 month old, Destiny, is going to need to wear a specialized 'helmet' b/c she has a condition called brachycephaly. (The back of her head is flat from laying on her back and problems in utero.)

I have been bothered since finding out that she needs one b/c I didn't realize it, eventhough my mom had been telling me that she has noticed changes in the shape of Destiny's head. I am now dealing with it so much better because I know things are ok and that this is only a short term thing.

You guys on here are so creative, I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how I could decorate her helmet for before and after the wedding. She can only have her helmet off for 1 hour per day. If you want to see the types of helmets, (She's getting hers next week) here's the link you can browse. Any and ALL ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

Wow sorry to hear that. My nephew had this same condition and acutally only had to wear the helmet for a very short time. I hope the same for you and Destiny. I like the ideas for the decorations and I thought the fish one on that website above was really cute.

Good Luck!

how about a "wreath" of flowers around the "headband" portion of destiny's helmet???

OR you could make it look like a tiara???

aww, i'm glad it's only short term!

the helmet the little girl's wearing in February is adorable! maybe you can get your daughter's painted with flowers and butterflies in your wedding colors? that would be adorable, even when not at the wedding.

I like the idea of the flowers, you could have a flower wreath made with ribbons off the back of it, or there is a picture on the calendar that shows an actual headband with flowers attached that you could do also.

Here are some flower head wreaths I found:

The first thing I thought of was a floral wreath...just as d1rtymart1n1 and Kohler suggested. After seeing all those unique helmets on the link there is no limit to what you could do! You could paint it to cooridinate with your wedding colors and add embellishments that go with your wedding theme (if you have one). I also like the idea of adding ribbon to it with ribbons streaming down the back. Even a little tool attached to the back like a mini veil would be adorable.

I'm sorry to hear that your baby has this condition. Thank goodness it is only temporary. I wish you and your family the best!

The majority of the decorations look like they were made with stickers (especially scrapbooking stickers). A walk through a scrapbooking store or the scrapbook aisle at Michael's should give a lot of ideas.

I also liked how they used the bling gemstone letters to spell a name - you can also get those letters at Michael's.

Finally, perhaps a single silk flower in your wedding color on the larger part would be cute.

I have seen a lot of babies that have had to wear this, its really not as bad as you may be thinking. I think some lace would be really pretty, something to emulate would be the laces used by http://jenniferbehr.com/
I thought of her because she uses some wider lace bands that would cover the entire protective band. You can use some sort of temporary/removable/water soluble glue or order a second bend to jazz up. Hot glue would work well too.

WOW I love the wreath and flower idea!!! Some of those pictures you girls posted are so cute! http://www.pinkbowtique.com/product_info.php?cPath=89_95&products_id=210
with some pretty satin or matching fabric to the dress!!!

Not sure if this is an option- but I also thought of one of those adorable hats, with a flower piece on the side, especially since its the summer as well! You know the ones that match the little boutique dresses- too cute! You may have to get a tad bigger of a size to fit over her head piece?

Good luck! So glad to her she will be okay!! She will be adorable- I LOVE babies!!!

You all are so creative! I knew that I came to the right place to ask!
:D

I am going to try out a few of your ideas and see which works out the best for her. When I get it figured out, I'll put her pics on my pics page.

THANK YOU LADIES!
