We had one of those huge Disaster Drills at our school a couple days ago...the state and county police, the EMTs, and the bomb squad were there for the drill too. We went into lockdown for an hour then were evacuated to a church down the street...boy it was hard to keep my SE kids quiet and entertained for an hour!

Anyone else have to do something like this?

Yeah, we call it a code blue drill though we don't leave the building- just lock the doors, cover the windows, and stay quiet until it's over.  Resource crowds into my room too- trying to keep 30-40 high schoolers from talking for an hour, just sitting quietly on the floor, is a tough task!

We do stuff like that too. We recently did a lock-down where we had to lock all the doors, close the blinds, etc and have all the kids sit on the floor away from the doors and windows. We also did an evacuation drill to a school nearby. It was a 5 minute walk and the kids handled it better than I expected.
