I had previously done a little brag post because I was so proud of myself for finding such a great deal on my wedding transportation (coach bus, luxury sedan, and rolls royce) but it doesn't seem like that will be the entire story anymore; I
won't be needing the rolls after all AND THERE IS AN AWESOME REASON WHY!
My mom had said she had a big surprise for me for my wedding and I couldn't figure it out although I had a couple suspisions so eventually I put the surprise aside instead of obsessing over it (like I normally would). I told my mom about my big
transportation score and at first she seemed proud of me for it to but we went out to dinner last night and she said "well I guess you spoiled my big surprise for you so I might as well tell you anyway now" and I'm thinking, what the heck did I do?
With a grin on her face she pulls a model car out of her purse and says "here it is!"
I nearly jumped out of my seat and my eyes welled up. It was the exact model of my dads 1957 Chevy Bel Air that had been sitting in her garage since my father passed away and the big surprise was that she is in the process of restoring it and
that it would be my ride to the church!!!
My father passed away 5 years ago this June and we miss him dearly, and that car was his dream car; my mom bought it for him to restore for their 25th wedding anniversary and while he did do much of the work himself he became too sick to finish
his project before he passed away from cancer at age 50.
I'm tearing up typing this right now but I'm just so touched; she knows that there is nothing more I'd love than to have him walk me down the aisle on my special day but since that isn't a possibility she's done the next best thing by "letting
him" drive me to the church. I feel so blessed and this is just what I needed after the big fight over wedding dates with my FI's brother. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
