DIY Brooch Bracelet Questions

Hello all!

So I was thinking about trying my hand at a DIY brooch bracelet.  I've seen some beautiful ones here on PW, but I do have a couple questions.

First of all, where can I get instructions? I found instructions in some ones bio, but it's a little confusing to me.

Secondly (and more importantly) where can I buy a brooch with the side loops??

Please share a pic if you have one!  Thanks!

Brooch - lafancybeads on ebay. Check the "Where to find..." group for the link. There's also a few other brooch sites in that thread, too.

Instructions - I kind of did it by trial and error. I'm going to put instructions up step by step with pictures after I take the bar.

i used these instructions and found them pretty easy to follow:

also, like aj said you can order from lafancybeads on ebay, or just do a brooch search on ebay, there are tons on there.  also, www.fabulousbrooch.com has a lot of different, inexpensive brooches.

I'm also going to try my hand at some sort of bracelet - it started out hoping to be a brooch bracelet but I'm thinking I might mess that up, so perhaps it will just be plain multi-strand pearls...lol

Good luck with your DIYing, and be sure to post pics of your progress!

You ladies are awesome! I found that lafancybead shop, they have exactly what I was looking for! Except now I'm torn between getting the already-made brooch bracelet for $50 or DIYing.

For those of you who have already made yours, do you remember what the total cost was?  I'd have to buy the jewelry plyers in addition to everything else.  I'm wondering if the saving would be worth the time.

Thanks!

@ ajfisher, can't wait to get your instructions! I love your bracelet, it's probably the best DIY I've seen!

I started buying a bunch of supplies from Michaels and off eBay but ended up with supplies I didn't actually need...! :(  Keeping in mind I thought I was buying for 4 bracelets (me, MOH, my mum, FMIL) I spent about $25 on eBay and something ridiculous like $40 or so at Michaels... and that's not even for the "proper" type brooch bracelet.

Heads-up: I went into Walmart and they had a nice large string of pearls in different colour selections for much cheaper than Michaels. They also have nicely priced jewelry-making supplies. Wish I knew that BEFORE I bought online!

The brooch is about 20 with shipping, then add in the pliers - each are anywhere from 5-10 bucks, and then add in the wire (2-3), the beads (around 10), the crimping beads (2-3), and the crimp covers (3-4), and you're already at 50 or more. Granted you can make a lot once you have the stuff, but if you're not going to be making jewelry that often, I'd just buy the one from lafancybeads already done.

Wowwie, I didn't realize the supplies could get that pricey!  I think I'll drop by Michaels this weekend and crunch numbers!

yeah---i think it is going to end up costing me around $30 to make it, but hey, i'm still saving $30 bucks!!
