Anyone have any ideas of where to begin to look for resources?  Or where to purchase the that amount of fabric?  I found onesourcewedding.net and fell in love.. just dont think my budget can handle 3,000 worth of decorating.

you can use coupons for joann fabrics and buy it that way...you could also just use tulle which may be cheaper.  It's beautiful though!!

I tried to do the same thing but it ended up being cheaper to just have a decorator come and do it instead of buying all the supplies myself.  Plus, it may be something that is hard to "re-sell" once you are done with it. KWIM?

Bump

Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions? I got a quote of almost $7k to do 315ft of draping.

I know decorators use the "Pipe and Drape" technique. Has anyone ever priced or rented just the piping?

if you've got a saw and a bit of mathmatical knowhow you could probably easily make the PVC pipe frames.

cudge.net is a great reasource for tulle.  You can get 40 yards for around $24.

i was looking for a veil drape as well.. i think 38 feet if i remember correctly. I got quoted 380 dollars from the decorator.. so i think i'll pass. I thought of diy'ing it but then i only have a week left to go and too much to do..

i can't believe how expensive it was.. and 7k??!! wow

Candice, thats a great idea! Guess I'll have to put FI and his gang on that one.

I'm lucky enough to have access to my venue as early as Thursday AM for my Saturday reception. This will make DIYing a lot easier. If not, I wouldn't even dream of doing the draping myself. It's a big open gym-like space, and I'm trying to cover all of the walls. This is going to be my biggest project by far! I know how much and where to get the fabric from, I'm just looking for a way to hang it.

Search for Gossamer..Its a fabric that is not as sheer as tulle and it comes in metallic too...and its very inexpensive! Google it...I have a website around here somewhere, I'll post it if I find it :) goodluck!
