Has anyone used a Xyron adhesive machine when making their invites? Paper source recommends using one, but its another $50, plus the cost of the adhesive sheets, and i dont want to have to spend it if i dont have to, but i dont want my invites to have adhesive bumps and wrinkles either. Anyone recommend another type of adhesive to use if i dont get the Xyron? anyone who has used the machine: worth it? easy to use? Thanks so much!!

I got the Xyron machine for Christmas, and I absolutely love it - I'm using it for my envelope labels, and ultimately, for my escort cards as well. It's very easy to use and (the best part) clean!

The machine should come with a roll of adhesive, which has lasted me about 20 8.5x11 pieces of paper so far.

I balked at the price tag too, which is why I put it on my Christmas wishlist - but knowing what I know now, I think it's totally worth it and would have bought it myself if someone else hadn't.

I just started putting together my pocket fold invitations together this weekend and I used tombo glue and adtec glue runner from Michael's for my invitations - there's no bumps or wrinkles and it sticks really well. They run for 3.30-4.00 each and I think it will be more cost effective than a xyron machine.

After much deliberation, I bought a xyron machine to help out with programs as well. It's been super easy to use, no mess at all. Like you, I was put off by the price tag, but I did some research online and found a great deal at home shopping network - it's the xyron 510 machine (this one is slightly larger, does 5" adhesive in addition to magnets and lamination. it comes with three rolls of adhesive included in the price for only $34.99. here's the link:

if you don't need something this extensive, you might try the smaller machines - you can find a detailed rundown of all of their machines at xyron.com.

amazon.com also has some surprisingly affordable xyron machines, as well as free shipping for many of them.

finally, check www.retailmenot.com for coupons - i think i found a 10 or 15% off coupon which pretty much gave me free shipping when i ordered from hsn.com. there's some pretty good deals on there if you're a first time customer.

sorry so long - hope this helps!
