Hey Ladies - I'm thinking of doing a diy photobooth at the wedding and I thought I'd get a head start and attempt a dry run of it at my holiday party in a few weeks.  So I've been researching how to create the booth and so far everything I've come across requires downloading software to then use my laptop's webcam. I don't want to do that, I'd like to use my DSLR (Nikon D5000).  In my mind, I'd set up the camera on a tripod and use the wireless remote.  My issue now, is how do I get the images on the laptop and then set up the printer so that people can print images right at the party. I'm not as concerned with doing the 3 photo strips that you normally see with photobooth prints.  I want people to be able to pose, shoot and print in 3 easy steps (so I don't have to man the camera all night!!!).  Please tell me this can be easily accomplished!!

On a side note, I'm thinking about renting a moonlighting kit from local camera store (which will cost around $30).  The problem is I've never used one before.  How do strobe lights work? Do you attach light to camera and it's triggered with shutter? I am I making it too hard on myself to think about adding light and should just use the built in flash?

Any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew but I'm afraid I may be oversimplifying things in my mind.

I've experimented somewhat with this.  You can tether your camera to the computer and people can actually see the photo right there on the screen!  It's pretty fun.  Then once they choose their photo, they can hit print and have it right there. 

As far as the lighting kit, you would have to figure out the proper lighting and get that set up before, and that may get a little time consuming before the wedding.  I wouldn't worry so much about that, but maybe have just some regular lights above and shoot on auto.  I wouldn't get in to the P mode for this, and definitely auto focus.

I also shoot with a d5000, so if I get my camera set back up in that mode, I could probably help some.
