Seriously no worries.  The DJ I worked with doesn't ask to see any paperwork until about a month out.  He told me that is actually earlier than most people.

We booked way in advance (got our travel fee waived because of it too!) and I had to have everything in to him 30 days before the wedding. HTH!

I think it depends on the DJ-  I have booked plenty of DJs but people who do events/openings/parties are a bit different than the ones who primarily do weddings. Wedding -everything- books with more advance notice. 

With the cake, caterer, photographers-  I noticed the good ones had limited availability. I contacted 1/2 dozen djs when i was planning and only one was n/a for my date.  I wouldn't sweat a dj as much as the other vendors...
