Dreading shopping for BM dresses for some reason..

So I feel the next major thing to take care of are the BM dresses. For some reason, I find myself dragging my feet with this part of planning. I think it might be because I have a very specific color in mind and am worried we won't be able to find it. Also, I have 6 girls in my party and I feel like it's going to be impossible to get everyone to go at the same time and since I'm living out of town, it just seems like it's going to be tough. What to do?!

First of all...don't dread it! It seems a lil crazy at first but it will definitely be less painful than you think! Can you do a little research before hand to find the exact color that you want? Then from there, give your girls an option between several dresses or say this is the color, the store, pick a dress, or try to find a time to all go together, but don't dread it :) GL!

I know how you feel half my bridal party lives in other states. I got their dress sizes and measurements.I was lucky cause i found the dresses I wanted on ebay, i just need to have them altered.What i was going to do if I couldn't find what i wanted was have the girls come and stay with me for a few days or a weekend so we could go looking for dresses.

this was my problem EXACTLY. i had a very specific color/budget in mind. it was so hard to find. i live in LA, most of my bmaids were from boston, but one was from georgia and she was pregnant, so i knew that was going to be tough too. my advice is to start requesting swatches from dress designers. that helped me so much. don't rely on the online pictures, the colors are always different. make a list of the dresses you want and go find them yourself. bring a friend and have her try them on. i found two dresses i really liked but then when i saw them in person, i hated the fabric/color/whatever. if you get a move on by doing those things, i promise the process will go by quickly. DON'T drag your feet or you'll finally find a dress you want and you won't be able to get it because you've already passed the cut off.

also, you may have to compromise somewhere. i finally found the color i wanted but the dresses were $60 over the budget i wanted my girls to spend. they convinced me they didn't care though, so everything worked out okay.

Bridesmaid dresses can be tough. But I do agree with these ladies :) plan ahead and you should be fine. Letting them pick is also a good idea with some guidlines. But I honestly just went with my maid of honor had her try them all on for me and picked without my bridesmaids. They couldn't make the time to do it so they have just had to deal with my decision. Whatever works best for you is the best thing to do :)

I did one shopping trip with my daugther (when the others couldn't make it) and found her dress.  I did one more shopping trip with the other two and they both bought theirs online.  It was a good thing I told them they could pick what they wanted.

The shop that I want to go to doesn't have a way to look up stuff online which is frustrating but I did find a day that everyone can go so I think we'll just go and see what happens!

I won't actively look for a wedding dress until I am 10% sure what BM dresses I want.  The color I love I found at David's Bridal.  I bought one of their swatches and took it to a higher end bridal shop and found other designers who had the same color, just different names.  I am going to select a bunch of dresses and let them choose what they want from there. They all dont need to have on the same dress.  As long as its the same color and material I  am happy.

I had the same feeling at first. And I have 7 girls. What I did was I searched online for one that I thought was going to fit all the different body types and had everything I wanted. Then I took what girls could go to the bridal shop to try it on. They said they liked it so we went with it. It was alot easier then I was making it out to be. Dont dread it. Just start searching for what you would like and then go from there. :) good luck!

As a woman that has been a birdesmaid in a couple weddings I have seen it done a few different ways.  The way that I was most receptive to was when the bride chose the color and each bridesmaid got to find the dress they wanted.  We are all different shapes and sizes and letting each woman choose thier dress will result in confident and happy bridesmaids.  And that is such a good thing!

I agree with @justvonne above about starting at David's Bridal and using their swatches to look elsewhere.
