So after looking at all these blogs for the last couple weeks I have a dumb question. Can you only get pregnant during ovulation or is that you better chance to get pregnant?

Don't laugh. I probably should know this =)

ovulation is when you release the egg and it is available to be fertilized for 12 to 48 hrs before it disintegrates.  timing it within this window would increase your chances.  hope that helps.  :)

well you can only get pregnant if there is an egg to fertilize and an egg is only there when you ovulate. As Sparkle said, the egg is only viable for about a 24 hour window which is why it helps to know when you ovulate. But sperm can livei nside you for 3 days so even if you do the BD a few days before ovualation you could end up preggers. So you don't have to have sex exactly when you ovulate

ditto odessa.  If you haven't already read it, I recommend the book taking charge of your fertility.  It tells you all about what happens during the different times in your cycle, what hormones do what, and when you can (or won't) get pregnant.

Thank you for posting this! I was also curious. It seems like people are getting prego all over the place, but maybe it's just because I want to so bad.

Read at fertilityfriend.com or the book taking charge of your fertility. Ovulation is when you can get pregnant because there is a released egg to be fertilized. My body does not ovulate, so I can't get pregnant. That time and the couple days before, are the best times to try. Sperm can live for a few days.
