we're going to try some pics at the huntington library in san marino with a good friend of our's. she's trying to hone her photography skills, and we just so happen to need some engagement pics. heehee...any tips in terms of what to wear or ?

i've read that solid colors are good, so i've narrowed it down to a brown strapless jcrew "beach" dress and the same dress in fuschia. but i'm completely open to wearing something else. =)

thanks! =)

Do you have pics of the dresses? =) I want to see!

the brown "espresso" one looks like this (but mine's from last season):

the fuschia one is the same style as the brown one, but just in a pretty bright fuschia color. =)

I like that dress too! In fact I like it so much I chose them as my bridesmaids dress (in rosebud). You have good taste, thundercloud! =)

I think both colors would look nice. The fuschia is happier and would pop more in pictures, while the brown is more classic.

It was too cold for me to wear a dress in San Francisco in December (when we took our E-pics), so DH and I wore opposite colors and here is one of our E-pics:

I agree with Margaret. I love the style of your dress and the fuschia will "pop" more than the chocolate one which is more classic. What color shirt/pants is your FI (wow, haven't used that acronym in a while) going to wear? Oh, and the Huntington Library ground is beautiful. I used to go to their tea room a lot! =)

thanks, margaret! i love those dresses, since they're comfy too. i'm sure your bridesmaids must love the dress as well. =) i'm really torn between the two colors, since i like both so much. i'll probably end up deciding the day of, depending on my mood! heehee...=)

mrsbabysalute, what a great picture! my fiance was thinking about wearing khakis and a white knit polo or another knit polo. he's got plenty, including light blue, yellow, brown, navy, green, etc. heehee...=)

the good thing is we're having a friend take our pictures for us, since it's a hobby of her's. so it's not anything formal. she just got a new (fancy in my eyes--meaning not point and shoot) camera, so she wants to try it out. =)

the wedding photographer we selected is from florida, so we're going to take some day after (the wedding) casual shots, instead of a formal engagement pic beforehand.

okay, i checked weather.com and it's going to be 88 degrees out in san marino this weekend. we might have to re-think things since i don't want to be all flushed and sweaty in the pics! =p eeeew! heehee...=)

I would wear the fushia dress and bring the brown one to change into if the photographer wants to tone the color down or do some black and whites and wants you in a darker tone fabric. The fushia will add great contrast of color in the photos, especially if it's a sunny day and you are around other colors.

Sounds like it's going to be fun. I love it when you're already friends with the photographer. It makes the experience much more relaxed.

Yes it is a comfy dress! Hmm, maybe you can get some nice shady pictures. I've been to the gardens once, but I know they'll make a great background! Def want to see some afterwards ;). Maybe you can go to the Japanese garden...I remember that being a one of the more "shadier" gardens.
