So we are most likely going to shoot our engagement pictures next week. Im curious, what did you girls wear or what are you planning on wearing? I was thinking of 2 outfits: jeans and a top and then a dress. Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas? TIA! :)

We've been tossing around the idea of doing our shoot at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica and/or Union Station in LA. Both have kind of a vintage or retro feel to them so we might go with that. I'm thinking a cute retro-inspired dress and peep toe heels for me and slacks, button-down shirt, and tie for him. We also talked about going to the original Getty Museum in Malibu and for that location we'd be a little more casual. Although, I kind of want to stay away from the matchy outfits of jeans and same color top. I may do a skirt and top with wedges and have him do jeans/shirt and flip flops (his standard uniform) or khakis instead of jeans.

We are going to do ours in a town called Folsom. Its pretty cute, we can do some downtown area pictures where we can use all the great buildings for some neat pics. Also there is a great bridge and a river and we are planning to do some on the bridge and on the rocks in the river. I was thinking maybe a white sping-y dress for the in-town pics and maybe a cute pair of jeans and more of a casual top for the bridge/river part? Im not really sure for him, maybe khakis and a button down with the sleeves rolled up and then jeans and a shirt, definitely with flips for that one. I don't want it to be matchy-matchy either, so I hear ya on that! :)

I know...it seems like for the longest time, everyone did the jeans and matching white or black shirts. We never dress in matching outfits any other day so why would we for those pics? :) Your thoughts sound like good options! Be sure to post 'em when you get 'em!

I know! Ha ha, I was looking around on photographers' sites today, looking at e-pics, and there was a couple who had the EXACT same outfit on. I thought it was weird.

Yes, I definitely will post after I get the pictures. So yeah, I think you're right, I think I know what I want its just a matter of actually picking out the pieces (i.e., picking out a dress that doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a sack, not picking a top that shows too much boobage, etc.) ha ha ha...

Thanks! :)

Kohler, That's what I wore: I started with a dress and cute boots, then changed (quickly) into jeans and a top. FI changed his shirt from a patterned (broad stripe) to solid white. Pics are in Bio under tag "engagement." You also may want to consider wearing pieces that are a little less trendy and more "timeless." I didn't so much and now I laugh thinking at what our future children might say about our shoes...lol!

We're taking ours next month - our casual set will include us in jeans, tee-shirts, sweatshirts and sneakers, since that's what you'd find us in on any given weekend. Our formal set will be him in a suit and me in some kind of fancy dress - I haven't figured this out yet :P And, because our photographer is a good friend of ours, he's letting us take a third set, with my FI in a powder blue tux and ruffled shirt, and me in a 70s inspired dress. This is definitely not "timeless" but FI really wants to do it, so it's all in good fun :) Oh, and we'll be taking it out and about in San Francisco.

I have chosen the outfits (3) for the both of us. Except for the last one (jeans and white top, typical for beach pics) I made sure the colors did not match. I think they turned out great.
