I posted in the main forum a few days ago about the IRS effectively stealing my wedding budget. I owe over my entire wedding budget thanks to some shoddy advice from the IL government about my mom's retirement when she died last year. They took
out taxes and said I wouldn't owe anything more or if I did, it wouldn't be much at all. I knew I was going to be taxed on capital gains, so I had our CPA (a very good friend) do the taxes and asked her how much I owed. I was SHOCKED when I heard
the number.
Well, I had to close my investment account in order to pay these taxes. Mind you, I don't have a job. I'm a STUDENT, and this was a one time thing. Well, I got royally F'd, and I was just doing what I was told to do at a time when I was 24 years
old and officially an orphan. My mom's teacher/administrative friends even told me to do the same thing, so I felt like I was doing exactly what I was supposed to do.
Fast forward to today. I email up my investment broker the other day after I heard the number and explained the situation. He calls me at 7:30am (first wtf) and berates me! Things like, "well, where is the rest of your money?", "you shouldn't
have done it the way you did," "how did you go through that much money so fast", etc.
It's NONE of your f'ing BUSINESS where my money is. Your sole purpose to me is to manage my investment account, which I want to close. I don't need a reason to close my account. JUST DO IT.
