I went and got a facial this weekend and had microdermabrasion and a light chemical peel. My face is really tight and my skin is dry. Is this normal? Has anyone else had these done?

I think it's normal for your skin to be a little dry. I've had a facial and chemical peel before (but not microdermabrasion... or that I know of). I think the first time I had it done my face was kind of dry after a few days but my skin was much clearer than before.

Very common...just use a great moisturizer and you will be fine-the good thing is it means the services are working!

I agree with mrslarsen, I can't imagine having both done in one session? Ive had chemical peels done several times and my skin was never really too dry, but I have oily skin so that may be why. I did, however, just have my first microdermabrasion about a week and a half ago and I did notice my face was a little more dry than normal. So I think it is common, I just have never heard of a peel AND microderm, Id think you're face would be raw afterward?!?

I did this blue facial peel (chemical peel) years ago and yes my skin did feel tight for a little while but afterwards my skin looked outstanding! I should do another one come to think of it.

Yep...dryness and your face feeling tight is normal. Just as PP's said, use a good moisturizer. If you can, use one with vitamin C in it. Vitamin C is great for a lot of reasons, but especially because it promotes new cell growth. Since you just underwent not one, but two treatments that basically remove the top layer of your skin, boosting new cell growth will keep your face healthy, fresh and glowing.

it's all normal...I do both all the time. You will have dryness...just means it's working. Im sure your skin will get flaky. Use a really good moisturizer too. Aquanil is pretty good too. You can find it in a real pharmacy, not a target pharmacy etc...

I get peels from my doctor (she's an internists and sub specializes in Derm). I get a little red and peel a little bit but it doesn't last long at all. I have some tough skin though, so just let your doc know that you have sensitive skin and they should be able to formate it for your skin type. So worth the results!
