Faithk08 - Recap, Part I

Helloooo, PW world!!! It's great to be back! So here's my recap! I'll try to keep it short and sweet, since I know it's tough to read a book here lol. 

So the week before was actually not too stressful. I had lots of help from FI & our families doing errands and different tasks. 

The biggest stress I had was flowers. I decided long ago to do our own centerpieces and bouquets. I used theflowerexchange.com for my roses. They came in on Thursday, and let me tell you, they were HORRIBLE. It was a nightmare come true for me - I kept having dreams that I had no flowers or forgot to order flowers, etc. The roses were all wilted and brown on the edges already. And the flowers were supposed to be white. Well, they were like a yellow ivory. EW. I called the company, and long story short, argued and wasted like 3 hours of my already crazy day. The guy told me I had to peel the first two petals off.. which left me with like half a rose.. and cut them and let them soak in water.. duh. Well, after doing that and them sucking in water, they still looked like $h*t!! So, thank God, I called the florist who was doing our boutineers and she had 100 spare roses that I went and bought. Then I had to get two dozen from another store too. I ended up finishing them all, but I wasn't 100% happy with them. They came nice, but even those roses didn't last long. They were super delicate and literally just made it through pictures. My bouquet lasted the whole day, but the girls' were a different story lol. Oooh, well, it was only flowers!! I had a mini meltdown Thursday night when I felt the bouquets were coming like crap, then I just said forget it, I need to go to sleep, and started fresh the next day and finished them up just fine!! The centerpiece flowers were gorgeous -- they came from a different website. My advice to brides: Don't order flowers online. Go to a reliable florist and order them -- it really wasn't that much more for me to get the flowers from the florist, surprisingly! I wish I would've checked before, because that's what I would've done originally!

The rest of my time before the wedding was really okay!! I had no problems doing anything else, so that was really, really nice! And a relief! We had our rehearsal and that went smoothly, except for the fact the priest asked me about 12 times what time we were getting married the next day.. umm, wtf?! lol. The rehearsal dinner also went great. Dinner was delicious and everyone really seemed to LOVE their gifts! 

(I'm not sure if I shared our final gift decisions with you all.. the BMs got a basket with a coconut candle, spray, and lotion from B&BW, a necklace and handmade earrings, a bottle of wine, and a $25 gift card for a store they each really liked. The GMs got a bottle of nice wine, and a nice steak package from Omaha Steaks. My parents got a nice handmade frame, and two little art pieces we got from Cancun and then money for a massage while they're on vacation. DH's parents got the steaks, and dinner and movie gift cards.) Everyone really seemed to love everything, so that made me really happy!!! We really tried hard to get everyone gifts they'd love and enjoy, instead of something they'd use at the wedding and toss aside and never see again!

I'm so sorry to hear about the flower fiasco! But the pics of the bouquet look great!! And that everything else went smoothly!!! Can't wait to read part 2...

Ugh the flowers sound like a nightmare! I'm so sorry! But they turned out gorgeous in the end. :) I would definitely be demanding a refund from the original website that you ordered from!

Halsey, ooh, I am. He refused to send new ones, wouldn't refund me, and was the only person available to talk to, no manager or anything. I called the credit card company to put a stop on the payment, which they did. It's still in dispute, but hopefully I won't be paying it!!

That is absolute craziness, Faith! I hope you get a refund!

Awe I'm so sorry about your flower troubles - but those flowers look freakin' amazing!!!! I love your gift ideas too!

Awwww, too bad about the flowers.  That is just heartbreaking.  I'm glad you were able to salvage the situation. 

Your flowers did turn out to be stunning even despite the issues you had with getting them how you wanted.  

Sorry to hear about the trouble but the flowers do look beautiful!
