so now that you are MRS _______, has his mom given you any of her "old family recipes" to make for "her boy"???

is it funny that the only things nolan likes that his mom makes are both "crockpot" recipes????

oh, how i wish!  dearest MIL just fries everything!  hahaha.  but i must ask FIL for recipes for his filipino dishes.  yummy!

The ONLY time I have asked MIL for a recipe, she went on to say "well why do you need it?!" Ummm.. because your son likes it...

YES!  When we were dating I asked DH's mom to give me the recipe for his favorite dinner and for her amazing apple pie!  I'm still working on perfecting that darn pie lol.

Then for my shower, his 5 aunts (his dads sisters) gave me a bound family recipe cook book!  They had made it with their mom (DH's grandma) before she passed away 3 years ago.  On the cover, there is a picutre of his grandma and five aunts in the kitchen holding cooking utensils.. it is such a sweet keepsake!  And lemme tell you.. they are all AMAZING cooks!  Can't wait to try their famous cookies they make every year for Christmas!

DH thinks that his mum makes the best Christmas cookies/bisquits ever. Christmas cookes/bisquits are very important here and traditional. Anyway, I'm sure my MIL will - one day - give me her recipes :-)
Til then, I bake my own, and DH likes them too :-)

DH's mom taught me how to make these amazing empanadas a few years ago...probably a few years into our relationship but asked me not to give the recipe to anyone else.  I make them ALL THE TIME and they're the biggest hit with all our friends.  People get aggravated when I don't give out the recipe...and DH likes to say now that its an official family recipe haha.
