I saw aching write that one of her favorite things about weddings are the real weddings on the various websites. That is honestly my favorite thing too. What is your favorite, all-time, real wedding?
And for your marrieds, besides your own ;)

Ok, I know this probably isn't exactly what you are looking for champ, but I have to say that my favorite real wedding is my grandparents. They were engaged in June and planned for their wedding to be the following June, so my grandma didn't start out doing too much. Then my grandpa found out on or about Sept 14 that he had to report for duty (he had been in the army and discharged, was recalled, and later found out it was an error!) on Oct 10. They decided to get married on Sept 30 and their wedding was absolutely beautiful. My great-grandmother made my grandma's dress, they had a friend of my grandpa's make the cake, the reception for 200-people was in my great-grandparents backyard, they had the invitations made in 1 day, addressed that night and mailed the next day, oh, and one of my favorite parts, they didn't have power for the rehearsal dinner, so to flag their wedding party down they sat out on the curb with flashlights.

It all really brings everything back into perspective. Even though my grandma can not wait for my wedding and keeps telling ME how organized I am.

Ooh, that's tough - I don't think I have a favorite! I do like this one a lot: http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/realweddings/view.aspx?id=25464&location=012&pageindex=0&type=1 I think I'm particularly partial to it though because it's just around the corner from where our wedding is going to be (in fact, it's the very place we're having our rehearsal dinner!).

I also LOVE this one that was recently featured on Snippet & Ink: http://snippetandink.blogspot.com/2008/03/real-wedding-saturday-amanda-matt.html

What's your favorite?

i love that story, caribear. Thanks for sharing it; it reminds me that the celebration is the most important element.

My favorite real wedding was my sister's. She did a fantastic job of planning- it was such a wonderful experience. She got married in upstate New York and everyone had to travel. It was an entire weekend and everyone spent time together and got to know each other. His family hosted a tented, catered rehearsal dinner which kicked off the weekend. There were about 120 guests and everyone stayed at the same lodge. It was nice that everyone you saw at the lodge was a guest and so everyone was very friendly with each other. The wedding ceremony was in a chapel on an island and they hired pontoon boats to transport the guest for the short 10 minute ride. There was a bagpiper on the shore playing as the guests arrived. It was really beautiful,
And the reception was one of few receptions I have been to where no one wanted to leave. the party just went on.

What's interesting is , I don't remember the cake or flowers or food but the mood, the joy.

Oh cari, that's so sweet. You need to get some flashlights for your wedding, just kidding. One of my favorite real wedding stories is from one of FI's fellow officers. They wanted a big wedding but because of relocating, deployments etc etc they couldn't in the foreseeable future. Instead their parents and siblings met them at a yacht club for dinner and surprised them with a rented power yacht for the family and their family minister! The woman had already purchased her dress so the mom just brought it along, it was waiting on the yacht! How cute right?

Dame, I think the best weddings are ones where the little planning details are not the show stoppers, but the mood, family and friends are why everyone is really there!

aching, I LOVED that snippet & ink wedding. I stumbled across her planning bio a few months ago:

My favorites? I like weddings that have a real feeling to them, that kind of transplant you:

I would add the snippet & ink wedding to my list too. So they're very different, there's no one type I like but I really love when people put a lot of thought and love into the little things that really make the whole thing unique.

I'm just going to bump this poll up just in case anyone else is a real weddings fan ;)
