I got my bfp on Monday Aug 15 and called my RE's office the next day (it took awhile to sink in and several more at home tests for me to really believe I got a bfp). They had me go into a local lab on Wednesday and again on Friday to check my
HCG levels and make sure they were doubling. Once they knew the numbers were good I was scheduled to come in for an ultrasound at the 6 week mark. I think the ob/gyn's in that office ordinarily wait to 8 or 10 weeks for the first appt but since I was
under the care of an RE and we had done an IUI they have a different protocol.
My next u/s was supposed to be at 8 weeks but because of my travel schedule it will be at week 9. Appt #2, for me, will be with the RE and if all is
well I will be released to the regular doctor.
My appt consisted of taking basic vitals (weight, blood pressure, etc.), a trans-vaginal ultrasound, a general discussion of vitamins, restrictions, any questions or concerns that we had at that
point. The u/s is not as bad as you might think and more than anything it is exciting. The moment you see that teeny tiny heart beating the world stops. It is amazing and surreal.
I know how hard it must be for you to wait. I think I would be going crazy especially since I don't really have any symptoms (nothing major) and don't "feel" pregnant. The u/s picture I have is the only thing that makes it real at this point.
Hang in there, you are almost there!!
hth! :)
