Are you, or did you, exchange gifts for your first year anniversary?

What did you buy each other, or what are you thinking of buying your DH?

It is our first anniversary in less than 2 months, and although ideas are swirling in my head I haven't quite committed.  We'll also be celebrating in Maui, but I still want to get him something.  :)

traditional the first year anniversary is :the paper anniversary

1st Anniversary Traditional Gift:

Paper. It symbolizes the strength in paper that comes from the interlaced connection of the paper's individual threads.

1st Anniversary Contemporary/Modern Gift:

Clocks. Henry Van Dyke wrote, "For those who love, time is eternity."

1st Anniversary Gemstone:

Gold Jewelry, Pearl, or Peridot

The meaning of a pansy is that the receipient is being thought about. The pansy's name comes from the French word pensée which means thought or remembrance.

The meaning of an orange blossom is purity, innocence, eternal love, marriage and fruitfulness, and fertility.

We were on a holiday in Miami when we had our first anniversary. So the setting was given and it was great! We didn't exchange gifts though - our gift was to spend 2 weeks in Florida  :-)

PMNUMES - we're doing a lot of those things to celebrate!  Dinner at a special restaurant in Maui on our anniversary day.  We'll eat the top layer of our wedding cake when we return.  Etc.  :)

Milkgal - I love how you tied "paper" into your gift.  You DH didn't ... but who cares, it's CRYSTAL!

Swiss - I love the idea of trips (memories) as gifts!  We agreed Maui would be our "gift", but I still want to get him something.  I still have ring guilt over the fact that I got two gorgeous ones, and he got just one.  LOL.

I'm tossing around getting him a watch.  But I'm quite certain at the very least we'll get is couples golf lessons.  He wants some tips from a pro, and if I learn then maybe it can be some date nights.  :)
