Flourish Help

I download a font that has a flourish I love, but when I make it the size I need (about the same size it is on the screen), it gets all pixelated and the line breaks are very obvious.  Any ideas on how a non-computer savvy girl can smooth it out?  I tried Paint and it got ugly FAST!

Any help is appreciated.

--the kind of image you want is called a 'vector' -- where you can keep making it bigger and it doesn't loose the sharpness at all. :) I'm not computer savvy, but my FI is a web designer, that's the only reason i know about this, haha :)

Here's two different versions I created in adobe illustrator. Unfortunately it still doesn't look great. If you can PM me the link to where you got the original flourish I might be able to get it a little less rough. :)

I guess the problem I'm running into is that it's not a real "flourish" it's a font called Line Art Doo Hickies One and this is what comes up when you type a lowercase k. 

I don't know how illustrator works, so would it be easier to work with as a doc, or if you downloaded the font?  I found it through a knot users bio and she has a bunch of others in with it.

I think I should have known better than to DIY.  I'm the least crafty person I know.

And can I add that those are way better than anything I did in Paint!
