I heard that sometimes people have flower trials? Is that very common? How does that work exactly, because none of the florists I met have ever mentioned it.

A trial run of wedding flowers is standard with a high-end florist. When you're spending $500+ on your centerpieces, etc. you want to make sure they're exactly what you want AND you most likely have the money to spend on a trial run (usually, it's factored into the total cost). If you're super set on what you want, it might be worth it to pay for a trial run although keep in mind that flowers are very seasonal and at mother nature's whim and therefore, you might not be able to see exactly what it'll look like anyway. My best advice is to bring as many photos / clippings as you can to your florist meetings so they get a good sense of what you like. Good luck and congrats! Meg

I am not sure if its common, but my florist did a trail run for me, I didn't request it but it seemed like its her standard process.

Originally she's going to do a trial for the center piece, but I have added some arrangements for a dance floor canopy, so she actually threw in that arrangement for the trial as well.

I think it was very helpful. For me at least I am making a couple modifications to the arrangments that I otherwise would't have the opportunity to realize before the wedding.

Oh yeah, and you get to keep the arrangment(s) for my house, since I had two, I actually gave one to my neighor who was having a dinner party the next day, and she loved it!

ps. my centerpieces/dance floor arrangments are no where near $500/piece. They are $65 (10) and $75 (14)

I did have a trial run so that I could have an idea of what my centerpieces and table settings would look like. I thought it was very helpful to have the florist meet me and the caterer at Classic Party to go over tablesetting, etc. My florist did not charge me. That was very nice of her to do for free, but I did spend a good amount of money with her.

I've never heard of trials before. D's florist sounds really nice!
