Ha...obviously I'm not married YET but I've had the same thoughts.  But I always loved weddings, even way before I even met FI.  It's always been a secret "dream career".  But I'm not sure I'm confident to make the HUGE leap to switch fields.  I've been a social worker for almost 9 years!!  SUCH a different line of work - although the therapeutic and mediation skills would definitely come in handy, I'm sure! :)  So I'm letting myself just think about planning OUR wedding, taking a break with the honeymoon and post-wedding, and then reassessing things once the "wedding blinders" have been taken off! :)

I say try it out...a person can never have too much education or too many skills!  If you decide it's not for you, at least you tried, right??  Maybe act as a DOC for free for a local bride to see what it's REALLY like.  The nitty gritty...not just the fun planning stuff.  That would be a good way to get a taste of the industry...

The only drawback with being a wedding coordinator is the same as any other service industry - Potentially difficult and obnoxious clients and getting paid on time.
