Let's face it: the wedding planning process, the budget, and the decisions are stressful enough to make a bride-to-be go gaga. Amid all the stress, you've got to make room for humor and light-hearted moments. Here's a few of
mine:
- We found this lovely, really old church, overlooking the ocean and surrounded by lush landscaping. When we inquired in Dec 2010 for a wedding sometime in Jul or Aug or Sept. 2011, we were told they're all fully booked. Yes, the
church rep told us, most people reserve the church at least one year in advance. Hmm, I quipped, I guess girls should reserve the church even before their significant other makes the proposal; put the down-payment, and keep moving the date
until the guy proposes. I got a chuckle from the church rep and my hubby.
- My hubby and I did a lot of DIY stuff like invites and wedding programs and decor. I would handle the design, and my hubby would handle the printing, hole-punching, cutting, etc. The 2-3 weeks leading up to the wedding got hectic...
we got into this rhythm that every night we're working on our wedding "project". When it was all over, we found ourselves having all this "extra time" that my husband quipped "I feel like I should be doing some hole-punching or cutting or
something tonight"...
- When we were trying to get better rates for hotel room reservations, my husband inquired about rates for a "Family Reunion" - which really worked out because the hotel mgr gave us lower rates (than originally quoted when it was a
wedding-related reservation) and gave us a free upgrade to a suite. The only problem was, during the phone inquiry, my husband gave them a fake first-name and a sound-alike last-name, so they would not associate our wedding reception deal with this room
res. So he had to do major back-pedalling when he called back to accept the deal and explain to the hotel mgr about his fake first name being a nickname and the last-name being hard-to-pronounce. The hotel mgr was very nice and took
his lame explanation. We ended up sending our out-of-town relatives a hotel-reservation group link that had "Family Reunion" under his fake first-name and sound-alike last-name. So it sounded like I was sharing the room with someone
else!
Do you have any you want to share?
