Gallery or studio space as a reception venue?

Has anyone been to or planning a wedding in a loft/gallery/studio space in San Fran?

Here are the ones that have perked our interest so far---any experiences with them?

SF Cameraworks

Dogpatch Studios

Limn Gallery

Aurobora Press

What do you think the typical cost would be to decorate one of these places---I would imagine it would be a pretty "raw" space....

Im not familiar with planning a wedding in a loft/gallery/studio space, but I think with anything that is not a traditional wedding space/venue, the cost is going to equate to how much you want in the way of decor, what you need for catering, will you have a bar, do you need a dance floor, do you need music, lighting, etc? I would call the contact at each of these locals and see what they come with/what they don't, etc. You can find several of these venues on www.herecomestheguide.com which will give you more specs. i would also recommend getting a wedding coordinator...as you will have a lot of different vendors to manage/contact, especially for day-of set up....

definitely get a coordinator!

our wedding is at someone's loft-style home that they rent out for events. i've had to build the entire event from scratch - we had nothing provided other than a few tables.

it's been a lot of fun but i wouldn't have been able to do it alone.

Yea...definitely agree with the coordinator! We have hired a partial wedding planner and she's been great so far. FI and I are just trying to get a feel for how much this may all cost and whether to do that vs. paying maybe more per head and having it at a cool/modern hotel.
