Hi mommies- I haven't posted on here in ages but I need help!- any suggestions for dealing with a gassy baby at night? Gassy in the sense of farting- being woken up in pain even. Not burping issues. I nurse but recently have tried formula bc her waking up 6 times a night isn't cutting it and Im afraid Im eating something that upsets her belly. We've tried Gentlease and tonight I even tried Soy (which isn't a hit right now). Still gassy... I've done the drops too :(. TIA for any advice

Is there anything you can think of that might be upsetting her tummy? Grapefruit juice used to be a nightmare for one of my boys - which was very annoying because its my favorite drink! - garlic used to upset him too so I tried to limit that in my diet.
I would suggest extra burping too, when you think she's done just stretch her out and rub her back for another 5 minutes or so.

My brother was amazed when my nephew had finished feeding and his regular burping that I held him under his arms and let his legs dangle a bit and he did a burp that would make a trucker blush!! It was the first time he slept without fidgeting - my brother swears by it now and thinks I'm a magical baby-whisperer! I'm not going to tell him it was something our Mom told me, and her mom told her!!!

is it possible to give her breastmilk in a bottle and see if that helps, my only adv is give it some time.  It could be her body adjusting to the different formula. sorry mama!

Our son has reflux and has been gassy as well.  We're using gentleease and breastmilk in a bottle (he never figured out how to BF)...but the only thing that seems to help is right after burping (if he's fussy) we lay him on his belly over our lap or hold him in our arms on his belly, letting our hand push on the belly a bit and it seems to move gas out...both ways :P  Sort of hilarious but it makes him calm down almost instantly.  You'd think it would make him spit up, but it really doesn't.  Hope that helps!

DS was very gassy. Formula makes a lot of babies constipated.

I agree with PP about laying the baby on their belly. Also, Gage had gas so bad he screamed. I did a lot of "bicycles" with him, as in multiple times a day, and rubbing his tummy.
