we have recently decided that i'll be going off BC and we will use a different form of bc until we are ready to actively try.

im just wondering what everyones personal experience was with going off birth control. was it a smooth one, rough. when did your cycle get back to normal. 

just wanna know what im getting myself into lol, well officially go off it at the end of next month feb.

I was on BC for many years so I wasn't sure how it would go. But I actually got my period right when it was to be expected and was very regular. I went off BC in January and for 7 months we didn't use protection...just the wonderful pull out method....that for whatever reason totally worked for us (although we always knew there was a possibility). We also tried to avoid sex on the days around my ovulation. As soon as we were ready to start trying we paid attention to my ovulation day and we got pregnant that first month.

I had been on depo for about 8 years and then made the transition to the pill for the past 6 or so years so I thought I was in for quite a ride when we stopped BC.  I lucked out and my body didn't miss a beat and I continued on my 28 day cycle.  Good luck and here's to hoping for a smooth transition for you :)

Everyone is different, so it will vary from person to person.

With my experience, I had zero issues after stopping BC.  My cycles remained the exact same at 28 days.  The only big difference was cramping... holy!  They were insane after coming off of the pill.

me too! the cramps were pretty bad...made me wish I was still on the pill! I even cramped a little when I ovulated which in a way is a good thing so I was able to tell when that was occuring.

I was on BC for 10 years-- it was a combo of Depo for the first 3 years and then the pill for 7.  When I got off the pill, I felt so much better-- I had more energy, I lost weight-- it was great!  When we we're ready to TTC, it only took us about 2 months to get PG which was a lot quicker than I anticipated.  I'm back on the pill now after having my son, but miss being hormone free!  My body just felt healthier off of it.

I went off BC and was pretty much normal then four months later I found out I was pregnant! :) Which that was the idea of it lol
