Okay ladies, I can't even express how freakin' EXCITED I am about this! A couple fo weeks ago, my homebase yoga studio announced it was holding 2 workshops with Seane Corn as the guest instructor. I almost pooped my pants when I read
Now, I'm not into the whole yogi celebrity thing, but this woman is just so inspiring and has really taken her practice off the mat and into the world! For anyone who hasn't come across her yet, check her out - she's pretty darn amazing
and I can't wait to learn something, anything from her! :)
Okay, so I finally have a moment to share what the workshop was like!! I'm so sorry for the tardiness ladies!!
The workshop with Seane Corne was...AMAZING. That woman's energy is contagious and utterly inspiring. She is such a humble person despite her being a yoga "celebrity", which is something I wouldn't even call her.
Her workshop was 3.5 hours, focusing on flows that would help with energy rejuvenation and detoxification. We started with different sun salutation sequences and other asana sequences with a discussion on energy, our connectivity to all
things in terms of energy. One of the things she said that resonated with me was such a simple statement, but crammed with meaning: "Leave your ego off the mat." Essentially, by not allowing our egos rule our practice, we open ourselves
for growth and allow ourselves to recognize that we are beyond our physical selves and the beauty that we are on the deepest level.
I wish I could share word for word everything she taught that night, but it was the most amazing workshop I've ever taken. Totally humbling and just a beautiful experience all around. I brought my camera to take a picture with her
after the workshop, but afterwards it just didn't feel...aligned with the energy and atmosphere of that night, if that makes any sense?!
Anyway, I'm babbling so I'll leave it at this - if you have a chance to take one of her workshops, do it. Even if it's for the feel of the energy that permeates the room you're sitting in. It's totally worth it. :)
You're so welcome Nik. :) Honestly, I wish i could've snuck in a vid cam or something so that all of you could have been there with me in some way. And it's funny, at one point throughout the class, you popped into my head and
all I could think was, "Man, she would totally dig the vibe of this class!" True story. ;)
And honestly, I think most of us have a hard time remembering to "keep the ego off the mat". I mean, I think yoga would probably have more people trying it out if people weren't afraid to look awkward or "stupid" in class. There's
definitely truth to what she said. If you're practicing yourself and you're truly in your moment, I think you'd get more out your practice (and by "you", I mean "you" in a general sense - myself included). It's a constant battle
to have that awareness and I didn't realize how much we're ruled by our ego until I started practicing yoga...
I've just signed up for a free trial of GAIAM TV and right now (yes while at work) I'm watching a Vinyassa Flow video with Seane Corn. I've never wathced her before but had to since you spoke so highly of her. She's amazing!
So sweet you thought of me suring the class, it's kind of like I was there! ;)
