Yes, my parents let me have green carpet + walls when I was in high school.  It was my fav color, don't judge :)  Now I'm 25 and my husband and I are moving in for a short time after school while we save up for a down payment.

I want to make it more "us" and also re-paint it for my parents, because there is poster tape on the walls and glow in the dark star residue on the ceilings (whoops)!

The carpet is similar to this color:

Should I go for this light bluish gray, or more of a tan neutral?  Our furniture is a slightly darker oak than the light wood in the picture.

Green is my favorite color too! If I could paint every single room in my apt green, I would! But DH won't let me : (

Anyhoo, I'm partial to cream or light tan walls with green carpeting but pulling in more greens with maybe green accent pillows or even green window drapes. I just feel that green carpeting and blue walls might make the room look too "cool" in tone. But I'm no designer so I could be proven wrong.

dorkmeetnerd is correct when she says that the room may have a very cool vibe if the walls are light blue grey, but is that the feel that you are looking for? A tan wall with green carpeting creates a very warm and inviting feeling. If it is your bedroom you and DH may really want something that is just calm and soothing. So in my opinion both options would be great but you just have to figure out what kind of a feel you are going for with the room.

I think we may have to do the tan neutral, since our wood for our furniture set is a golden oak color, which is very warm.  It may tie it all in together.

I have teal carpets lol and painted the walls tan. I think it looks pretty good.

Princessmia - do you happen to have another picture?  I do see it and I think I like the combo.  Do you have a pic with your bed or anything in it? And the wood on your door is similar to my bed/dresser color.  It may work!

Hehe I painted our dining room chartruse!! I love green, too. I think a tan or a gray would be nice.
